Jill has worked on international development and social justice issues for over twenty-five years. Her experience ranges from direct engagement with children and communities to influencing senior decision makers, and she has lived and worked in Malawi and Tanzania. Jill’s employment history includes The Children’s Society, VSO (as a volunteer, Country Director, Head of National Volunteering and supporting the International Citizen Service programme) and the Greater London Authority, and she’s been Executive Director of ChildHope since 2011. ChildHope is committed to local organisations leading the safeguarding and development agenda in Africa and Asia, which has led to the creation of the South2South Safeguarding Network. This group of expert practitioners is dedicated to building safeguarding approaches that respond to the contextual needs, experiences and opinions of children and adults. People’s participation in developing safeguarding solutions is Jill’s particular focus as a co-chair of the Bond safeguarding working group, established in 2018.
